------ What we do
From Your Drawing to a Proven Tool
Zetford Manufacturing is a dedicated press tool house. Give us your component drawing or a sample and we take it through design, tool manufacture, press tryout and approval — then run it on our own presses to supply you the finished components, if you want us to. One partner, full accountability, from first cut to delivered parts.
Enquiry & Feasibility
Part drawing or sample review, tool concept and quotation.
Design & Approval
Strip layout and die design shared for your sign-off.
Manufacture & Tryout
Tool room production, assembly and press trials.
Components & Supply
Approval samples, then production runs as per your schedule.
Deep Draw Dies
Cups, shells, covers and housings drawn from CRCA, stainless and aluminium. Draw ratios, blank-holder pressures and lubrication are engineered to prevent wrinkling, tearing and earing.
- Cups & shells
- Multi-draw sequences
- Thin-wall sections
Transfer Dies
A robotic or mechanical transfer system carries each part between die stations, combining operations that deep draw or heavy forming cannot complete in a progressive strip. Suited to large, deep or complex parts.
- Part transfer systems
- Large & deep parts
- Combined operations
Fine Blanking Dies
Precision cutting with a triple-action press produces fully sheared, burr-free edges straight off the tool — no secondary machining. Used where gear teeth, seat profiles and functional edges demand finish and accuracy.
- Fully sheared edges
- Near-net-shape
- Functional surfaces
Coining & Embossing Dies
High-pressure coining impresses logos, datums, thickness steps and functional textures with excellent definition. Also used to flatten and size critical thickness zones to print.
- Logos & datums
- Thickness sizing
- High impression quality
Blanking & Piercing Dies
Cut flat blanks and pierce holes from sheet and strip to final profile in a single operation. Built for clean sheared edges, tight burr height control and high output on power presses.
- Single & multi-out
- Strip or sheet
- Burr-controlled cutting
Progressive Dies
Our flagship tooling. Coil strip feeds through a series of stations — pierce, form, coin, cut-off — producing a finished component every stroke. Ideal for high-volume, multi-feature parts with consistent repeatability.
- Coil-feed lines
- In-die sensing
- Millions of strokes
Compound Dies
Blanking and piercing are completed within one press stroke and one station, so hole-to-profile accuracy is far higher than progressive tooling. The right choice when concentricity and flatness are critical.
- One-stroke operation
- High hole-to-edge accuracy
- Flat parts
Bending & Forming Dies
Flanges, brackets, clips and channels formed with controlled springback compensation. Multiple-stage forming sequences are engineered to hold angles and radii batch after batch.
- Spring back control
- Multi-stage forming
- Brackets & clips

Manufacturing capabilities
Precision, Quality and On-Time Delivery - Under One Roof
A press tool is only as good as its tool room. Ours combines modern machining with disciplined inspection, so the tool that leaves our floor produces your part to print — stroke after stroke, batch after batch.
Tool Design & Engineering
Die design in CAD with strip layout, force calculations and tolerance stack-up reviewed before a single plate is cut. Designs are built for maintainability — inserts where wear happens first.
Tool Room Manufacture
CNC milling, wire-cut EDM, surface and profile grinding, turning and jig boring — every critical element of the die is produced and finished in-house under one roof.
Precision
Working tolerances down to ±0.02 mm on tooling elements and ±0.05 mm on finished component features. Hardened, ground D2 / HCHCr / carbide construction wherever wear demands it.
Assembly, Tryout & Approval
Every die is assembled, blue-matched and trial-run on our own presses. First samples are inspected and, where required, submitted with PPAP-style documentation before dispatch.
Quality Assurance
Incoming steel verification, hardness and dimensional checks at every stage, final CMM inspection reports, and full traceability of tool materials and heat treatment.
On-Time Delivery
Committed tool schedules with stage-wise progress updates — design approval, machining, tryout, dispatch. Component batches ship with inspection reports and secure, rust-protected packing.
Where Your Tool Will Run
A die is proven on the press it will live on. We match every tool to the press class it needs — tonnage, bed area, shut height and feed type — and try it out on our own machines before it reaches your shop.
Mechanical Power Presses
C-frame and straight-side presses with coil feed lines — the workhorses for progressive and blanking tools at production speeds
Hydraulic Presses
Variable stroke and pressure control for deep draw, forming, coining and tryout work where speed control matters more than strokes per minute
Fine Blanking / Triple-Action
C-frame and straight-side presses with coil feed lines — the workhorses for progressive and blanking tools at production speeds
Press Range
Tools are proven and run across our press fleet from small bench tryout presses up to heavy tonnage straight-side machines, matched to each tool's tonnage, bed size and shut height.
